Hey Paul, nice to hear from you! Yes, actually “gift” is also a verb:
Gift
tr.v., gift·ed, gift·ing, gifts.
1. To present something as a gift to.
2. To endow with.
I was being cheeky with it, give would have been just fine, but I do want to distinguish it from charitable giving, thus use of “gift” instead of “give.”
